Tools need to get the job done:

Here’s a list of essential tools commonly used in caravan and camper renovations. While these are some of the most frequently relied-on tools in my projects, you may need additional tools depending on the specific requirements of your renovation. Each campervan and caravan is made differently so some of these tools will not be suitable for your job requirements but consider this a solid starting point for your toolkit!

Please note: I placed mostly Ryobi images here because that's my choice of tool, but any brand tool will do the same job. Ryobi is not a sponsor of this site.

Jigsaw

Why use a jigsaw, you might ask?

I chose a jigsaw primarily because of its ease of use and precise control. Attempting to remove the flooring as a whole piece proved impossible, so I cut it into smaller, more manageable sections with the jigsaw, greatly simplifying the removal process. The reason you would want to remove the flooring is to check for rust on the chassis.

Sliding Mitre Saw

Good for making cabinets and frames

If you're refurbishing a caravan or camper primarily constructed from wood, this tool is an absolute must-have. It's particularly useful for building a sturdy frame for your caravan or camper. In my case, my caravan's structure relied on styrofoam insulation and cabinets for support, so I decided to reinforce it by constructing a proper frame.

Compact Brushless Cut-off Tool

Now this bad boy was my most used tool.

This tool is incredibly versatile and a must-have for any toolkit, especially when renovating a caravan or camper. Its compact design makes it perfect for cutting pipes, metal corner trims, wall trims, and a variety of other tasks. For instance, you can use it to trim aluminum framing, cut through rivets or bolts, shape window trim, modify cabinetry hardware, or even adjust lightweight steel panels. It's also great for cutting ventilation openings or working on intricate metal details that larger tools struggle with. I highly recommend it!

Drill

Why a Drill is a Must-Have for Camper or Caravan Renovations:

Alright, so if you're working on a camper or caravan renovation, let me tell you—you're gonna need a drill. It's one of those tools you'll grab for almost every job. Think about it: building or fixing up the frame? You’ll need a drill. Mounting hardware like cabinet hinges or door latches? Yep, a drill again. Putting up panels inside or outside? You guessed it—drill time.

And it’s not just for the big stuff. Say you’re running some wiring, setting up plumbing, or even fixing up some damaged spots—it’s all so much easier with a drill. Oh, and let’s not forget about furniture. Whether you’re building custom storage or a fold-down table, a drill saves you so much hassle.

Oh and I honestly think having a cordless drill is the way to go because you don't have to drag out the extension cord or have cables getting in your way when trying to drill in confined areas.

Multi Tool

A multi tool is a Must-Have for Camper or Caravan Renovations:

If you're renovating a camper or caravan, a multi-tool is one of those things you’ll end up relying on for so many jobs. It’s incredibly versatile and perfect for the tight spaces you’re constantly dealing with in a camper.

Need to cut through wood, trim a panel, or even slice through stubborn screws or nails? A multi-tool can handle it with precision, especially in spots where larger tools just won’t fit. It’s also great for sanding awkward corners, smoothing rough edges, or stripping old paint without breaking a sweat.

When it comes to removing stuff, like old caulking around windows or adhesive from ripped-up flooring, the scraper attachment will save you so much time. And if you’re adding new features—like cutting holes for vents or windows—it gives you the control to make clean, precise cuts.

The best part? It’s compact and easy to use, with quick-change attachments that let you switch from cutting to sanding to scraping in seconds. Honestly, whether it’s a quick fix or a big project, a multi-tool makes everything faster and easier. Once you use one, you’ll wonder how you managed without it.
